Controversial Bar Incident Leads Shiv Sena (UBT) to Call for Minister's Resignation
The Shiv Sena (UBT) has intensified its demand for the resignation of Maharashtra Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam, following allegations of his links to an illegal dance bar operating under the guise of a licensed restaurant and bar called Savali Bar in Kandivali, Maharashtra.
The controversy began when the bar, registered in the name of Kadam's mother Jyoti, was raided three times in 2023, yet no action was taken against the family. This led to a police raid where bar girls, customers, and staff were detained. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anil Parab has presented evidence linking Kadam to the illegal operation of the dance bar to the Chief Minister for investigation.
Ramdas Kadam, Yogesh Kadam’s father and Shiv Sena senior leader, has refuted these allegations, claiming a conspiracy to defame his son. He argued that the bar was leased to another individual, Sharad Shetty, with a written agreement including clauses forbidding illegal activities. However, the Shiv Sena UBT faction has not been swayed by these denials and has intensified pressure on Yogesh Kadam, especially after the dance bar license was reportedly returned by his family amid the controversy.
Parab met with the chief minister earlier this week to discuss the evidence linking Kadam to the illegal operation of the dance bar. He also pointed out a contradiction in Kadam's claim that Savali was a licensed orchestra bar and the subsequent return of the licence. In a raid conducted by police in May 2025, it was allegedly discovered that the establishment was functioning as a dance bar with 22 bar girls.
Parab warned that if Kadam is not removed from the cabinet, it will send a message of political helplessness across the state. He also questioned why the licence was returned if no illegal activity occurred. The minister, Yogesh Kadam, conceded that the license was in his mother’s name but claimed that the bar was being run by someone else. However, Parab asserts that the return of "stolen goods" does not absolve one of the crime.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader has previously raised the issue of the bar's illegal operation in the legislative council last month. The party claims the bar's licence permitted operation only as a restaurant and bar - not as a dance bar or for any illegal activity. Parab has also met with police officials to inquire about the action taken against Yogesh Kadam. The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has assured a thorough investigation based on the evidence submitted by Anil Parab.
