Contestant Santhosh Suvarna Reaches Fourth Day of European Poker Tour Cyprus Main Event

The EPT Cyprus tournament is currently in full swing, with the Main Event now in play! After an action-packed third day, the list of survivors has been announced. Among them is India's very own Santhosh Suvarna, who managed to progress to Day 4 alongside 44 other players. The initial entry count? A whopping 1,284 participants!

As the competition heats up, Bobby James has taken the lead with an impressive chip stack of 2,605,000 chips. Santhosh finds himself down the list a bit, but hey, anything can happen in this thrilling game of chance. Let's hope he makes us proud once again!

The EPT Cyprus Main Event will soon crown a new champion, a title highly coveted in the poker world. Last year saw an Indian-origin player, Ankit Ahuja, winning the EPT Eureka Main Event, pocketing a cool $362,365 (roughly equivalent to ₹3,01,45,325)! Can Santhosh repeat the feat this year? Time will tell!

For those curious about Santhosh Suvarna's poker journey, here's a quick recap: Always one to shine, Santhosh was the fifth-place finisher at the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller this year, taking home €358,000 (approximately ₹3.3 Crore). In a heartbreaking finish just months ago, he ended up third at another event, missing out on an EPT trophy by a hair's breadth. Kahyan Mokri and Steve O'Dwyer claimed those victories instead, taking home healthy sums of €1,372,420 and €1,63,720, respectively. Earlier in the year, Santhosh almost snagged a trophy at the SHRB IX, finishing second, with a nice payday of $220,000. Roman Hrabec took that event, bagging $316,000.

From humble beginnings to a decorated poker career, Santhosh initially made a splash in the poker world in 2017, when he cashed out ₹4,52,000 at the DPT High Roller in Goa, finishing seventh. Since then, he's racked up a nice collection of wins, including two WSOP bracelets – his first, a win at the WSOPE 50K Diamond High Roller, netting him upwards of $690,000, and his second, earned in the WSOP 2024 $250,000 NLHE Super High Roller, with a massive $5,415,152 prize!

The EPT Cyprus competition kicked off on October 9th and runs until the 20th at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa. As each day unfolds, new records will be set and champions crowned. Stay tuned for the latest updates!

  1. Despite being a bit lower on the list, high roller Santhosh Suvarna could still turn the tables at the sports-themed casino in the EPT Cyprus Main Event, just like he did at the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller.
  2. As the high-stakes poker world eagerly awaits the crowning of the new EPT Cyprus champion, one can't help but remember the success of another Indian-origin player in sports poker, Ankit Ahuja, who won the EPT Eureka Main Event last year.
