SEA Women's V.League: Vietnam Claims Championship in Thrilling Final

The 2025 SEA Women's V.League, a high-level volleyball competition, concluded in dramatic fashion with Vietnam securing the championship after a nail-biting final against Thailand. The tournament, which took place from August 1 to 10, was hosted by Thailand and Vietnam.

The first leg of the tournament was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, where Thailand emerged victorious against the Philippines in three sets. The Philippines, however, managed to secure a win against Indonesia during the same leg. The second leg took place in Ninh Bình, Vietnam, where the roster composition may have changed for the Philippines before the second leg.

In the second leg, the Philippines faced Vietnam in a closely contested match, with Vietnam emerging victorious in four sets (25-14, 30-28, and 25-22). Thailand, on the other hand, defeated the Philippines in four sets on August 9, setting the stage for an exciting final match.

The final match on August 10 was a thrilling affair, with Vietnam coming back from two sets down to beat Thailand 3–2 (scores: 17-25, 24-26, 25-17, 25-22, 16-14). This victory secured the championship for Vietnam, while Thailand finished as runners-up.

The Philippines secured third place after sweeping Indonesia 3–0 in the bronze match. The overall event was contested by four Southeast Asian teams: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Based on the combined standings, Vietnam and the Philippines qualified for the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Nations Cup, with Thailand joining the 2026 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League.

The tournament followed the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Nations Cup in June and the 2025 Vietnam Television (VTV) International Women's Volleyball Cup in early July. The venues used were Terminal 21 Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima (capacity 4,000) for the first leg and Ninh Bình Gymnasium in Ninh Bình (capacity 3,040) for the second leg.

The Philippines' roster for the tournament included Bella Belen, Angel Canino, Vanie Gandler, Eya Laure, Alyssa Solomon, Leila Cruz, Cla Loresco, Shaina Nitura, Thea Gagate, Fifi Sharma, Maddie Madayag, Justine Jazareno, Mars Alba, and Jia de Guzman, along with Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Dell Palomata. The world rankings of the participating teams are as follows: Thailand (No. 20), Vietnam (No. 27), Indonesia (No. 50), and the Philippines (No. 47). The schedule for the second leg in Ninh Bình included a match between the Philippines and Thailand on August 9, and a match between the Philippines and Indonesia on August 10.
