Contest for Local Elections 2025 Includes Candidate Dieter Schmoll

Architect Dieter Schmoll, born in 1951, brings over five decades of experience in architecture, planning, and community work to his role as mayoral candidate for Meerbusch. having studied at RWTH Aachen and being a managing partner of RKW Architektur + in Düsseldorf since 1998, he and his team have completed numerous future-forward projects in commerce, education, and administration.

"I have spent my career planning, building, and designing, and now I want to take responsibility for my hometown," noted Schmoll, who grew up in Osterath and has resided in Büderich since 1991. His aim for Meerbusch is to create a forward-thinking, lively, and sustainable city, with an emphasis on urban development, infrastructure, education, culture, and citizen participation.

Schmoll seeks to preserve social cohesion in the districts and along the Rhine. In terms of construction, he advocates for densification rather than the creation of new building areas. In line with this, Schmoll opposes expanding the Kalverdonk building area beyond the Stadtbahn line, instead placing a focus on nature and climate protection. Conserving nature, forests, and river meadows is particularly important to him. He advocates for the preservation of open spaces, meadows, and fields, as well as the protection of natural biotopes.

As a long-standing member of Working Group 34, Schmoll supports the careful, sustainable, and socially acceptable implementation of construction projects. "There is a lack of attractive, affordable housing," he underscored. Future plans include allocating more space for social housing.

In his role as an active member of the Planning and Culture Committee, Schmoll is well-versed in the local governance processes. Sound planning with a sense of proportion is essential to him, as is an open dialogue with the citizens. Engaging as a knowledgeable resident, he often offers suggestions in committee meetings - covering various topics such as the development of the Hamacher Hof in Lank, the use of the Brüll Mill in Osterath, and the development of the Haus Meer site.

Schmoll envisions great potential in Meerbusch: cultural diversity, economic strength, and established neighborhoods. His program includes improvements in infrastructure, modern schools, attractive neighborhoods, and increased participation of all generations. Enhancements to the traffic routing at the "Teehauschen" with a low-lying Stadtbahn and a ten-minute interval for the U76 are intended to make public transportation more appealing. He also demands uniform 30 km/h zones in residential areas and a reduction of traffic signs.

Schmoll desired Meerbusch to retain its identity as a green city - attractive for families with affordable housing, free kindergartens, good schools, and a diverse range of cultural and sports offerings. He views the promotion of the local economy as essential for job creation and the overall economic stability of the city.

Cleanliness, security, and order are cornerstones of Schmoll's vision for the community. Problematic areas, such as U76 stops, should be specifically addressed, and public safety enhanced through increased community policing and improved emergency response times. River meadows, as popular recreational areas, should remain clean and inviting through better maintenance, waste disposal, and information. "In challenging times, we need a politics that listens, takes responsibility, and has the courage to truly tackle the issues," said the mayoral candidate.

"During his political aspirations as a mayoral candidate for Meerbusch, Dieter Schmoll has expressed his focus not only on urban development and infrastructure but also on policy-and-legislation matters, particularly in the areas of housing, environmental protection, and community safety."

"In line with his commitment to creating a sustainable city, Schmoll has emphasized the importance of general-news topics such as preserving nature, fostering cultural diversity, and promoting economic strength, all while ensuring affordable housing and accessible education for all citizens of Meerbusch."
