Contest #29 is underway in the Nintendo World Championships, featuring the NES version
Nintendo Switch Online members can now compete in the classic Nintendo World Championships with the latest addition, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. This unique game challenges players to speed-run through bite-sized segments of 13 classic NES games.
Key Details and Features
- Challenge-based gameplay: Instead of playing full NES games, players face over 150 short, fast-paced challenges extracted from memorable moments across 13 NES titles. This design makes it accessible to newcomers who don’t need to master entire games to participate.
- Speedrunning and rankings: Each challenge awards a letter ranking based on speed. Players can compete to improve their personal bests by racing against a ghost of their previous run played side-by-side.
- Online and local multiplayer: You can compete against players worldwide online (requiring Nintendo Switch Online membership and internet connection) or challenge friends locally. Additional accessories may be needed for multiplayer (sold separately).
- Unlockables: Completing challenges rewards in-game coins that unlock further challenges and content, encouraging progression and replayability.
- Library: The 13 NES games from which challenges are drawn are not included as full games, but their iconic moments are represented in the challenges.

Participation and Scoring
Nintendo Switch Online members can participate in Competition #29 of the Nintendo World Championships: NESTM Edition game. The competition results, including individual placements and birth year rankings, will be available for those who participated in last week's competition.
Availability and Requirements
The competition is available from the current time until 2/3 at 12:59 a.m. PT. A Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and a Nintendo Account are required for online features.

- Membership auto-renews after the initial term unless canceled.
