Contenders Gear Up for the 2025 Belmont Stakes: A Glimpse at the Steeds Ready to Compete

Here's a fresh take on the 2025 Belmont Stakes:

Prepare for an epic showdown on the East Coast! The Belmont Stakes, the final leg of horse racing's prestigious Triple Crown, is set to heat up New York on Saturday. This year, the top three finishers from the Kentucky Derby are reuniting to claim Triple Crown glory, or snatch victory in its absence.

Sovereignty, last year's Derby champ, is back to defend its title. Foolishly skipping the Preakness to focus solely on the Belmont? Sovereignty ain't afraid of a little pressure. Journalism, on the other hand, is gunning for revenge after losing to Sovereignty in the Derby. It already secured the Preakness crown and is now the leading contender for the Belmont Stakes with a whopping 8-5 odds. Baeza, the third contender, is eyeing the top spot as well, with a persistent 4-1 odds to its name.

Eight steeds will enter the races, and only one will emerge victorious. Here's the complete lineup along with their odds:

  1. Hill Road - 10-1
  2. Sovereignty - 2-1
  3. Rodriguez - 6-1
  4. Uncaged - 30-1
  5. Crudo - 15-1
  6. Baeza - 4-1
  7. Journalism - 8-5
  8. Heart of Honor - 30-1

Things are a little different this year as the Belmont Stakes will be held at Saratoga Race Course, temporarily abandoning its traditional home at Belmont Park. The race course change means that the Belmont sees a slight reduction in length, making it the same distance as the Derby – 1 1/4 miles. Though some might gripe about losing the 1 1/2-mile challenge, we think fresh scenery and challenges are what these horses crave.

Beware the beast known as Heart of Honor! The Brown colt hasn't had the best of luck in starts, but when he catches his stride, watch out. Jamie Osborne, Heart of Honor's trainer, is hoping that the Belmont brings better fortune upon them. Despite the setbacks, we can't help but be excited for this underdog's comeback.

Looking for a piece of Triple Crown history? Afleet Alex was the last horse to win just the Preakness and the Belmont back in 2005, so buckle up and let's see who will make history this year.

So, horse racing fans, get ready for some thrilling action at the 157th Belmont Stakes! May the best horse win!
