Contender António Salvador expresses intentions to seize title of champion in his campaign for re-election
Fresh Take:
António Salvador, the man in charge of Sporting de Braga since 2003, has laid out some lofty goals for the next seven years--no less than 400 national and international titles, with a focus on soccer and futsal. And for the first time since his tenure began, he's explicitly mentioned aiming for the national title in men's football.
"It's not a fleeting wish; it's a goal, not a dream; it's not blind faith, it's a plan," Salvador declared during the unveiling of his electoral program. He emphasized that this is all part of cultivating a "champion's mindset" within the club.
The upcoming term, he stated, will mark the most ambitious cycle in the club's history. He outlined four key pillars for the next four years: talent, proximity, expansion, and leadership. Additionally, he wishes to see Sporting de Braga break into the top-36 of the UEFA club rankings and boost the number of athletes by 25%.
Salvador also aims to increase the membership base by 50%, surpassing the 60,000 mark, and plans to attract an average of 20,000 spectators per game.
The upcoming election for the General Assembly will see Fernando Santos as the presidential candidate, along with some fresh faces on the board. Inés Lopes, Ricardo Vasconcelos, and Miguel Osório are the new additions, while Cláudio Couto, João Carvalho, Hugo Vieira, Manuel Rodrigues, and Gaspar Borges continue from the previous board.
Gaspar Castro will run for the presidency of the Fiscal Council, with Luís Machado as a candidate for the General Council, and Raquel Cunha heading the Cultural and Social Council.
In the 2021 elections, Salvador was re-elected president with an overwhelming 85.4% of valid votes. The elections for 2022 are scheduled for May 24.
Now, while there's no specific data about the strategic details for the 2025-29 quadrennial, generally, Sporting de Braga has focused on sporting success, infrastructure development, investment in the youth academy, and community engagement. But, you can expect some new twists to those themes in the upcoming years as Salvador steers the club towards even greater heights.
Sporting de Braga, under the leadership of António Salvador, aims to expand their sports-analysis department to enhance their understanding of football and futsal, aiming for more Port-based sports titles both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the club plans to implement a detailed strategy focused on talent development, leadership, and improving the club's performance in sports-analysis, with the ultimate goal of breaking into the top-36 of the UEFA club rankings.
