Contemporary Appointment: Nagelsmann Welcomes New Aid

Germany's Football National Team Appoints Benjamin Hubner as Julian Nagelsmann's Assistant

Following a prestigious career in football, Benjamin Hubner is set to join the German Football Association (DFB) as assistant coach to Julian Nagelsmann. The pair share a history, having worked together at TSG Hoffenheim from 2016 to 2019.

Nagelsmann, himself a rising coaching star, expressed his confidence in Hubner, praising the 35-year-old's dedication to the team and strategic mindset. Hubner will take over from Sandro Wagner, who will depart after the Nations League final tournament. With his contract set to expire in 2028, Hubner is poised to bring his leadership skills and tactical acumen to the national team.

Hubner's playing career was marked by notable achievements while under Nagelsmann's guidance. As a defender at Hoffenheim, he played a crucial role in the club's ascent to the Champions League, participating in 69 matches under Nagelsmann's tutelage.

Hubner's professional journey, however, has not been without setbacks. An unfortunate concussion in 2018 forced him to miss many games and eventually led to his retirement in December 2022. Undeterred, Hubner pursued a second career in coaching. He made a successful transition, leading Hoffenheim's U19 team to a domestic double and becoming a coach for the professional team.

Enthused by the opportunity, Hubner expressed his gratitude, citing his time under Nagelsmann as a significant influence on both his playing and coaching careers. DFB sports director Rudi Voller expressed similar sentiments, expressing great trust in Hubner and his ability to contribute positively to the national team setup.

As the German national team eyes the World Cup in the USA, the appointment of Benjamin Hubner as assistant coach promises to bring fresh ideas, a strategic mindset, and a proven commitment to team success.

I'm not going to be able to do it all by myself, as I was a player and not a manager, but I'm eager to contribute to the German Football National Team's success, having learned a lot about sports-analysis and team management under Julian Nagelsmann during my time at General-news such as football and sports.
