Contemplating the Youngest Emmy Winner: Could Adolescence Actor Owen Seek a Role in Batman?
Rising Star Owen Cooper Continues to Impress
Owen Cooper, the young actor who recently won an Emmy, is making headlines once again. After his Emmy victory, Cooper has returned to school and is now set to appear on the big screen in a major role.
Cooper will be playing a young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights, a highly anticipated film set for release in February next year. The movie, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Cathy and Heathcliff, has already caused a stir among Emily Bronte purists for its sexed-up take on the classic story.
Before landing this coveted role, Cooper honed his skills by attending Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien's The Drama MOB once a week. A tape of his performance was even submitted for consideration.
Cooper's breakout role came when he was cast as schoolboy killer Jamie Miller in Adolescence. Stephen Graham and the production team sought an unknown actor for the part and contacted northern drama schools to find their perfect fit.
For his performance in Adolescence, Cooper earned £40,000 and a four-part mini-series that won him his Emmy. His success has put him on the map in a way very few young actors ever experience.
Despite his newfound fame, Cooper remains grounded. He continues to live with his parents, Noreen and Andy, in a modest £135,000 terraced house. In his Emmys speech, Cooper expressed his gratitude for his success and encouraged others to step out of their comfort zone.
Cooper has also secured representation from powerhouse agency Independent Talent Group and Public Eye Communications as his publicists. However, there are no publicly known reports of major directors currently showing interest in Cooper or considering him for their upcoming projects.
Despite this, Cooper's career trajectory is undeniably on the rise. With his talent and determination, it won't be long before he catches the eye of the industry's heavyweights. Until then, he continues to focus on his craft and make the most of the opportunities that come his way.
