Contemplates Potential Future Leaders, According to Putin

**"Here's the lowdown on this... It's quite evident that we got election tech and administrative resources, but let's not forget the ultimate power lies with the people, the Russian folk, the voters, everyday folks. A leader without the support of the people can't do jack squat – that's just how it goes," Putin shared his thoughts.

He hinted at the need for multiple candidates, providing Russians with a pick.

Vladimir Putin got sworn in as the President of Russia on May 7, 2000. He served two back-to-back terms until 2008, then took a detour as the Prime Minister under President Dmitry Medvedev until 2012. He cried "President is back" when he resumed the role in 2012. In 2024, ol' Putin scooped the presidential elections for the third time in a row, thanks to some 2021 constitutional updates. He's currently serving his fifth term.

At a direct line in June 2021, Putin shared that he'd let us know about his successor when the time's right. He stated, "It's my duty to give a helping hand to whoever's in the running for the big job. After all, that's the norm in every nation," he said. Later in October, during an interview with CNBC, he dodged the question about his moves for another term or naming a successor, remarking, "Stability is key – all institutions and state structures gotta function smoothly, looking ahead with confidence."

When asked about Russia's future leader in November 2024, Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesperson, chimed in, "Ain't gonna lie, it's Putin's clone or whoever you, the people, vote for."
