In October that same year, he refused to spill the beans on his successor plans during an interview with CNBC. He stresses the importance of calm and stability for the government and its structures. Makes total sense!

But what about Dmitry Peskov, the President's press secretary? Well, in November 2024, he told reporters that the ideal candidate for the presidency after Putin? You, buddy! That's right, it's all up to you and your vote.

Now, digging deeper, the internet doesn't seem to have any solid leads on who Peskov's tipping for the big role. Putin himself allegedly "constantly considers" potential successors and assesses them based on their people-pleasing skills. But Peskov's statements seem to prioritize Putin's continued power and faith in his reelection over hinting at any successors.
