Consultations Held by the Commission Regarding the Safety Provisions for Workers Exposed to Ionising Radiation in the Proposed Legislation

In a series of coordinated attacks, the far-left extremist group "Kommando Angry Birds" has disrupted railway services in the Düsseldorf and Duisburg region, causing significant travel chaos.

The cables belonging to a signal box in Duisburg were targeted in an arson attack, which occurred on an unspecified date. The fires affected a cable tunnel and the track, approximately two kilometers apart, causing disruptions to regional and long-distance traffic.

The regional trains RE1, RE5, RE6, and RE19 were rerouted, and the S1 suburban railway line, along with several regional lines, were also affected. The ICE lines to Berlin and Frankfurt am Main, as well as connections to North Germany, South Germany, and the Netherlands, were disrupted.

The fires on Thursday and Friday disrupted long-distance traffic, with repair work on the railway line expected to last until at least 10 p.m. No indications of further acts have been found in the last weeks.

"Kommando Angry Birds" is a group known for their sabotage actions, primarily targeting railway infrastructure in the Düsseldorf area. They claim these attacks as protests against what they describe as an industrial system and environmental destruction.

The group has publicly claimed responsibility via statements on left-wing platforms like Indymedia, emphasizing their ideological motivation tied to environmental concerns and opposition to industrial systems. However, the authenticity of these claims is still being examined.

According to NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul, the attack was possibly carried out by left-wing extremists. The attack is currently under investigation for sabotage, but no individual arrests have been reported.

Attacks on telecommunications masts in Langenfeld/Erkrath and a tunnel fire on the A46 are also attributed to the "Kommando Angry Birds" group. The group has previously sabotaged several times in the Düsseldorf area, and the claim of responsibility suggests that several attacks have been carried out in the Greater Düsseldorf area.

However, no further acts have been reported in the last weeks, and law enforcement agencies are working diligently to prevent any future disruptions caused by this extremist group.
