Consultation Service in Borgonia has been disrupted
Governor Pamela Baricuatro Appoints Diverse Group of Consultants
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has expanded her team by appointing a group of consultants with specific areas of expertise. Among the appointees is Atty. John Ismael "Jiembo" Borgonia, who has been appointed as consultant on political and social matters, though his appointment is currently under review by the Cebu Provincial Board.
Borgonia's appointment has generated some controversy due to his prior remarks critical of the Provincial Board. As a result, the Board has deferred his confirmation until he can clarify the importance and scope of his consultancy.
Other approved consultants include Dr. Elisse Nicole ‘Nikki’ Catalan, who will serve as Consultant on Health and Hospital Development. Engineer Grecilda Padilla Sanchez will take on the role of Consultant on Livelihood and Sustainable Agriculture. Christopher Baricuatro has been appointed as Consultant on Legislative Matters.
Michael Francis Acevedo Lopez will serve as Consultant on International Relations, while Maria Victoria Osmeña will be Consultant on International Studies and Education. Atty. Edmund T. Lao has been appointed as Legal Consultant, and Romanico B. Ocampo will serve as Consultant on Internal Audit. Jose Eleazar R. Bersales has been appointed as Consultant on Heritage and Culture.
The appointment of Atty. Serecio B. Jo as Consultant on Transportation and Mobility was also approved. The diverse group of consultants covers a wide range of governance areas, ensuring that Governor Baricuatro's administration is well-equipped to address the various needs of the province.
According to reports, a resolution granting Governor Baricuatro the authority to sign a consultancy contract with Borgonia for one month, starting from July 1 and ending on December 31, 2025, was sponsored by council member Raymond Calderon. The fate of Borgonia's appointment remains uncertain as he awaits the Provincial Board's decision.
The appointments come as Governor Baricuatro continues to build her team and prepare for the challenges ahead. With a diverse group of experts at her disposal, she is well-positioned to lead the province towards a brighter future.
