The city of Freiburg has launched a new project aimed at providing support to migrants who have good prospects for reintegration into the housing and job market, but may be at risk of homelessness. The project, named "Housing - Homelessness - Migration - Integration" (WOMI), is a joint initiative by the Office for Migration and Integration and the Office for Social Affairs.

The WOMI project is funded through the federal program EhAP Plus by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, as well as from funds of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus). The project does not specify any criteria for those considered "at risk of homelessness," but emphasizes the importance of uncomplicated and low-threshold access to counseling for those affected.

Open office hours are held at the Office for Migration and Integration (Berliner Allee 1) on Mondays from 1 to 4 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm, and at the OASE - Center for homeless people (Haslacher Straße 11) on Fridays from 9 to 11:30 am. The WOMI team seeks direct contact in temporary accommodations, emergency shelters, day centers, or counseling centers.

Support provided includes help with applying for a housing entitlement certificate, questions about rent arrears, work, or health insurance, and assistance with conflicts in temporary accommodations or legal issues in social and immigration law. The team can be reached by phone at 0761/201-3219 or by email at [email protected].

Further information about the WOMI project can be found online at www.freiburg.de/womi. However, there is no specific information available about a project started by the city administration of Freiburg for people at risk of becoming homeless due to migration.

Meanwhile, the educational level in Baden-Württemberg is under scrutiny during the new school year, and mayors play a crucial role in the development of metropolitan areas. The city administration encourages anyone in need of support to take advantage of the resources available through the WOMI project.
