Construction work on A45 highway near Eisern in Rinsdorf, Siegen, to persist till August 25, 2025.

The construction site on the A45 in North Rhine-Westphalia, located near the towns of Siegen and Rinsdorf, is currently undergoing a significant bridge renewal project. This project, focused on replacing the aging Rinsdorf viaduct, has made considerable strides, with a key milestone being the transverse shift of a 485.5-meter-long viaduct section into its final position in early June 2025.

Despite the ongoing construction, traffic has been maintained on the A45. This has been achieved by building the new twin-section bridge in stages, allowing one section to carry traffic while the other was built or demolished. The existing Rinsdorf bridge was demolished in 2022, with the new segments progressively replacing it.

As of July 2025, the eastern half of the Rinsdorf viaduct has been successfully moved into place. This complex maneuver, which took about 20–30 hours with 24 hydraulic jacks on sliding Teflon plates, has enabled the final alignment of the new twin bridges. Traffic is expected to transition fully onto these new structures once completed.

Nearby infrastructure improvements, such as the addition of E.ON-operated fast charging stations at the Wolfsgrund-West rest area, are ongoing to support traffic during the construction period. The budget for these critical bridge and road renovations, including this project and others, was increased by 1.1 billion euros in 2025 to accelerate necessary work on the Autobahn system.

Recent activity includes the demolition (controlled explosion) of the Zeller Bridge in the vicinity on July 30, 2025, indicating ongoing related infrastructure renewal.
