Smack Down in Gaza: Aid Centers Shut, "Combat Zones" declared by Israel
Construction sites in Israel declared as combat zones during renovation process
Got some breaking news for ya, pal! Israel's hit the pause button on them aid centers in Gaza. Seems like another violent incident at an aid distribution center has left the Zionist state fearing more chaos. Dunno about ya, but this ain't looking good for the Palestinians.
Now, we've got the Israeli army and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) telling us the centers are being shuttered for a day due to "renovations, organization, and efficiency improvements." eerie, ain't it? Seems like they're trying to clean up the mess they've left before opening up again.
The army's put out a warning to the Gaza residents, not to venture near them thar aid centers. The streets leading up to 'em are considered "combat zones," as the army's spokesperson told us. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if ya ask me.
These aid centers been up and running for a week now, only to be shut down after Israel allows some limited aid to the hungry population following a three-month blockade. Israeli soldiers are accused of shooting up a crowd near one of these centers once again on Tuesday, according to Palestinian claims. Over 27 Palestinians lost their lives and around 90 got injured near the southern city of Rafah, reported the Hamas-controlled health authority.
The doctor at the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis told the BBC that wounded civilians with gunshot wounds arrived after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians waiting for aid in Rafah's west. A foreign doctor working in the area called it "total slaughter" and claimed the aid workers were overrun with victims.
The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, ain't happy about all this. He's been callin' for consequences, demanding an immediate, independent investigation into these events, and accountability for the perpetrators. Says it's unacceptable that civilians risk their lives--and sometimes lose 'em--just trying to get some food.
The Israeli army claims its soldiers saw suspects approaching 'em half a kilometer from the distribution point, posing a threat. They fired warning shots first, but when the suspects didn't scram, they shot 'em up good and proper. The IDF lets the GHF distribute aid in Gaza to bypass UN and other aid organizations. The UN ain't too pleased about that and calls Israel out for using humanitarian aid as a weapon.
