White House State Ballroom Construction to Begin in 2025

The White House is set to undergo a significant renovation project, with the construction of a new State Ballroom scheduled to begin in September 2025. The project, which will cost approximately $200 million, is primarily funded by President Donald J. Trump and other private donors.

The construction team for the project will be headed by Clark Construction, with engineering led by AECOM. The architectural design of the new ballroom will be overseen by McCrery Architects, known for their classical designs that match the architectural heritage and theme of the main White House building.

The new State Ballroom will span approximately 90,000 square feet and will have a seated capacity of 650 people. The ballroom will be constructed on the site currently occupied by the heavily altered East Wing, which dates back to 1902.

President Trump has personally been involved in the design of the ballroom and has expressed a commitment to preserving the White House's historical character while enhancing its event-hosting capabilities. The White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, has highlighted this commitment.

The United States Secret Service will handle necessary security enhancements and modifications for the new State Ballroom. The project aims to create a large event space within the White House complex, replacing the need for temporary tents currently used for significant gatherings.

The White House currently lacks a large event space that can accommodate more guests than currently allowed. This new ballroom will address this longstanding need, and it is expected to be completed well before the end of President Trump's term.
