The Railyards Stadium Project: Sacramento Republic FC Steps Closer to Reality

Exciting news for soccer fans in Sacramento! The Sacramento Republic FC announced on Tuesday, February 18 that they're making "significant progress" toward opening the much-anticipated stadium by 2027. Groundbreaking is set to take place later this summer.

Digging Deeper into the Project

The momentum for the stadium project skyrocketed when Wilton Rancheria took over as the majority owner and promised substantial investments in the Railyards. This led to a unanimous financial approval from the Sacramento City Council in November, greenlighting the project. In total, the project spans across 31 acres, with the stadium, a new entertainment venue, and supporting infrastructure costing approximately $321 million dollars.

Building the Stadium

The 12,000-seat stadium is scheduled for completion by 2027, under the initial term sheet. Republic FC has partnered with the global firm, Elevate, to gather fan feedback and ensure the venue truly represents the spirit of the region, catering to the needs of both fans and the community.

The Sacramento Republic FC Stadium will be led by Turner Construction Company, as the principal builder, and designed by MANICA Architecture. The latest renderings show off a new southwest entrance and concourse perspective.

Ownership & Financial Details

With Wilton Rancheria as the majority owner, the stadium will be privately owned by Republic FC’s ownership group. The project is entirely privately financed, with construction costs totaling $175 million. The broader Railyards development involves around $325 million in private investment.

Community Engagement

In order to make sure the stadium is tailored to the needs and preferences of the community, Republic FC has partnered with firms such as Machete Group, MANICA, and House & Robertson Architects, Inc. The development team is actively gathering community feedback, focusing on seating options, food and beverage offerings, hospitality packages, transportation solutions, and more.

This project is part of a larger 244-acre development, aimed at providing jobs, housing, entertainment, and transit to the area, contributing to the economic growth and enrichment of the Sacramento community. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development!
