Constructing a new Flamaropol ice rink and sports complex in Bucharest's District 2
New Flamaropol Complex Set to Boost Bucharest's Sports Infrastructure
Good news for sports enthusiasts in Bucharest! The city is set to welcome a new sports and leisure complex, known as the Flamaropol, in the coming months. This project, a collaboration between Bucharest City Hall and District 2 City Hall, is expected to begin construction in the coming days.
The Flamaropol complex will be home to a sports arena and a multifunctional leisure center. The sports arena will seat 3,661 spectators, making it an ideal venue for various sporting events. The multifunctional center, on the other hand, will have a seating capacity of 763 and will offer a wide range of facilities.
The multifunctional center will include a basketball court, indoor swimming pool, climbing center, wellness area with spa and fitness facilities, an indoor skate park, and additional retail spaces. The sports arena will feature modern locker rooms, a fitness room, media and VIP areas, commercial spaces, and an energy-efficient design focused on long-term sustainability.
One of the key features of the complex is the international-standard ice rink in the arena, measuring 60x30 meters. This will provide an excellent platform for ice sports enthusiasts and could potentially attract international competitions.
The investment for the Flamaropol project is RON 128 million, excluding VAT. Both Bucharest City Hall and District 2 City Hall will contribute equally to the project's cost, with each covering 50% of the total cost. The project is scheduled to be completed within 20 months.
The decision to start construction was made during a meeting on July 15, 2020, between Bucharest's acting mayor, Stelian Bujduveanu, and District 2 mayor, Rareș Hopincă. With the order to begin construction imminent, the city of Bucharest is gearing up for the addition of this exciting new sports and leisure facility.
When completed, the total seating capacity of the two buildings (sports arena and multifunctional center) will be 4,424 people. The Flamaropol project is yet another step forward in Bucharest's commitment to improving its sports infrastructure and providing its residents with top-quality facilities.
