The Unique Challenges of Artist Relationships: A Perspective from Scarlett Johansson and David Harbour

Artist Johansson outlines complexities in dealt relationships with fellow artists - Connections with creative artists can be intricate and complex

You know what they say, opposites attract - and that's certainly true when it comes to the intriguing dynamic between artists. In a candid conversation for the magazine "Interview", actress Scarlett Johansson and her costar David Harbour dug deep into this complex topic.

Johansson smirked, "When an artist is involved with someone outside of the industry, there's bound to be some bumps in the road." She explained that actors are, by nature, free-spirited individuals who forge incredibly close relationships with their colleagues. "It's easy for someone on the outside to feel a bit jealous or left out, especially since we spend so much time together," the 40-year-old star admitted.

Harbour, 50, echoed a similar sentiment. He shared that dating beyond the entertainment world hasn't exactly been a walk in the park. "There's just something about being a circus freak that normal people don't understand," he joked.

As for Johansson, she's found love within the industry - marrying Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost in 2020 and starting a family together. Before that, she was married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds for over two years until 2010, and shares custody of a daughter with her ex-husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac.

Harbour, best known for his role in the hit series Stranger Things, and Johansson, who played the Marvel heroine Black Widow, both have insider insight on the challenging world of showbiz. And trust us, there's no shortage of complications - even when it comes to their public image.

"EVEN having a relationship with the public can be very complicated for people outside the industry," Johansson emphasized, summing up an issue that many artists today face.

"Scarlett Johansson acknowledged that, for artists dating outside the entertainment industry, jealousy and feelings of being left out can be inevitable due to the free-spirited nature and close relationships formed within the industry."

"David Harbour humorously admitted that while dating beyond the circus of entertainment, normal people often struggle to understand, implying that relationships, public image, and dealing with the public can also present unique challenges for artists."
