Creative Tributes: Congress's Quirky Plans to Honor President Trump

Congressionarians loyal to Trump commemorate presidency with unusual proposals

In the halls of Congress, members are brainstorming unique ways to show their admiration for President Donald Trump. With political careers potentially hanging in the balance based on his approval, some are going all out in their efforts to pay tribute to the man in the White House.

The latest idea comes from Florida Representative Greg Steube, who has proposed renaming the Washington D.C. metro system as the "Trump Train." A non-compliance from the city could lead to a possible $150 million loss in federal funding.

This proposal isn't the only one catering to Trump's self-proclaimed affection. In May, Representative Warren Davidson suggested the National Health Institute investigate the so-called "Trump Derangement Syndrome" as a legitimate illness. Coined by Trump supporters to dismiss critical reactions as hysterical, "Trump Derangement Syndrome" would be defined as "a behavior or psychological phenomenon characterized by intense emotional or cognitive reactions to Donald J. Trump, his actions, or his public presence."

Mount Rushmore Revisited

Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna sparked controversy when she proposed adding Trump's face to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota in January. Originally featuring the faces of presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln, Luna's proposition aims to enshrine Trump alongside these revered figures.

The ideas don't end there. Other suggestions include renaming Flag Day as "Trump's Birthday and Flag Day," and placing Trump's visage on currency. The denomination is still up for debate, with some favoring the $100 bill while others advocate for a more distinctive choice, such as the nonexistent $250 bill.

Last year, some representatives proposed renaming Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C., to "Donald Trump International Airport." This idea continues to be discussed, especially in negotiations over the tax package. remarkably, an initial proposal for a $1,000 per baby incentive from the state was rebranded as "MAGA Accounts," a nod to Trump's famous slogan, "Make America Great Again." Now, it appears the incentive will officially be referred to as "Trump Accounts."

While these plans deserve ridicule, they demonstrate the dedication some members of Congress have to Trump and his presidency. But will these quirky tributes garner widespread support within the GOP or spark a wave of criticism? Only time will tell.
