Conflict on the Internet in Altschauerberg - Opponents of the "Dragon Master"
In the small village of Altschauerberg, Emskirchen, Middle Franconia, tensions between webvideoproducer and livestreamer Rainer Winkler, known as the "Drachenlord," and his opponents, commonly referred to as "haters," reached a boiling point at the recent Schanzenfest.
The conflict, which has been simmering online for years, escalated into real-life harassment in Altschauerberg. An organized anti-fan group, known as the "Drachengame," has been at the centre of the ongoing harassment, causing numerous police interventions due to illegal actions on both sides.
The dispute took a significant turn in October 2021 when Winkler sold his property in Altschauerberg to the local municipality, and after leaving in February 2022, the rundown house and garage were demolished. Despite moving away and adopting a nomadic lifestyle, Winkler has continued to be pursued by his haters who have tried to locate and harass him at his new locations.
This year's Schanzenfest, which traditionally attracts large crowds, saw a significant presence of the "haters" despite Winkler's absence. The event, held at the former Drachenlord's residence in Altschauerberg, was met with a strong police presence, including numerous officers, a mounted unit, and a support command.
Earlier in the day, it was challenging to enforce the order as many people gathered in prohibited areas. By late afternoon, most people had left or were on their way, but the police reported an insult to an officer and an act of resistance. The market of Emskirchen had issued a general order due to the expected influx, prohibiting large gatherings, noise, and fireworks in the districts of Emskirchen and Schauerberg.
The police are monitoring the situation closely, expecting the crowd to disperse in the evening. Around 100 people had their identities checked using IDs and residence permits. In the past, Schanzenfests in Altschauerberg have often been instigated by the "haters," leading to disturbances, property damage, assault, and other offenses.
Throughout the conflict, both parties have faced legal consequences. Winkler has been sentenced to a one-year probation by the Regional Court of Nuremberg-Fürth in 2022, while several of the "haters" have been convicted of crimes against the video blogger or punished for minor offenses in recent years.
Despite the ongoing harassment, Winkler continues to produce content online, maintaining a substantial following. The conflict between him and his opponents remains a topic of interest and debate among his audience and the general public.
