Conflict in the Youth League Being Probed by FHR
Rewritten Article:
The Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) is takin' a close look at the chaotic fracas that broke out during a National Youth League (NYHL) playoff game between Saratov's "Crystal" and Moscow's "Granite," as per the tournament's official report.
In Saratov on April 30, the game ended with Crystal emerging victorious 7-3. The incident got dicey when players racked up a whopping 225 minutes in penalties, with 55 minutes going to the home team and a hefty 170 to the visitors. The majority of these penalties were issued for a massive brawl in the final minutes of the third period.
The RHF has promised to comb through the footage and send it off to the Sports-Disciplinary and Disciplinary Committees for handed-down punishments – fines and suspensions for the individuals responsible for the scuffle.
According to Russia-hockey.ru, Andrei Zyuzin, General Manager of "Granite," accused Crystal's goaltender, who'd played in the VHL this season, of instigating the fight.
Zyuzin claimed that the game, which started off with Granite leading 2-0, took a turn when referees Larin and Snegov started doling out unfair penalties. The score went back and forth until it was tied at 3-3, but somehow, Crystal was awarded a controversial goal at the end of the second period, making it 4-2. This, Zyuzin stated, got the young players riled up, sparking the brawl in the third period.
The situation escalated further during one of the scraps, as drunken fans attacked Granite's team driver and commercial director by the bench. After the game, the players were whisked out of the city by the National Guard for their safety.
Assistant coach of Crystal, Pavel Antipov, told TASS that Granite had been goading their players throughout the entire playoff series.
The Saratov Regional Police Department, however, stated that there were no incidents off the ice, no arrests, and no police reports were filed.
Crystal moves on to the final, where they'll face off against "Tambov."
