Conflict erupts in Zamfara as Kachalla executes enemy bandit leader
Breaking News: Tense Atmosphere in Zamfara's Tsafe Area Following Bandit Leader's Killing
The peaceful community of Matsuki in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, has been plunged into tension and desertion following a violent incident. Reports suggest that Kachalla Alti, a notorious bandit warlord, is responsible for the killing of another bandit leader, Dankarami Usaini.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred at around 4:45 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025. Dankarami Usaini, a Hausa native who was known for extorting and attacking residents in the Dangajeru forest, was in Matsuki village to collect levies on behalf of Kachalla Alti. However, his actions were described as excessive harassment by the villagers, leading them to reach out to Kachalla Alti for intervention.
In response, Kachalla Alti stormed the village with his men and shot Dankarami Usaini dead on the spot. The killing is said to be a part of a deadly supremacy battle between bandit factions.
The aftermath of the incident has seen many villagers flee to nearby communities, fearing retaliatory attacks from Dankarami's loyalists. Sporadic gunfire has been heard in nearby forest routes, keeping tension high.
The killing appears to stem from internal conflicts and rivalry among bandit kingpins competing for territory and control over illegal extortion levies in Zamfara. Residents’ complaints about Dankarami’s excessive harassment appear to have prompted Kachalla Alti’s intervention, reflecting community distress in the conflict zone.
The immediate effect of the incident has been a mass displacement as villagers fled Matsuki and surrounding villages. The community remains tense and largely deserted, disrupting daily life and local stability. Increased insecurity with ongoing gunfire and fear of further clashes or revenge attacks is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.
It is important to note that this incident has not been confirmed by official sources. However, such incidents are part of ongoing violent rivalries between bandit leaders in Zamfara, including previous clashes involving Kachalla Alti and other warlords like Haruna Hari.
As the situation continues to unfold, our thoughts are with the affected communities, and we hope for peace and stability in the region. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
