Shedding Light on the Eminem-Mariah Carey Feud: A Former Manager's Revelations

Conflict erupted between Eminem and Mariah Carey over a movie part.

In the world of music, whispers of a feud between Eminem and Mariah Carey have been circulating since the 2000s. Now, Damion "Damizza" Young, once the manager of Carey, dishes out the dirt on the origins of this bitter animosity. According to him, it all boils down to a quirky movie offer from Eminem that took a twisted turn.

Rumors of the feud have been fueled by hits such as "Superman" (2002) and "Bagpipes from Baghdad" (2005), where Eminem subtly hints at an illicit relationship with Carey. However, Carey has consistently denied these claims, stating that their encounters were limited to professional meetings, and any collaboration never took place.

In response to these rumors, Carey released "Obsessed" in 2009, a track about a crazed stalker who imagines things. The man in the video bears an uncanny resemblance to Eminem. Eminem clapped back in 2013 with "The Warning," a gruesome diss track where he claims to have possession of voice recordings, photos, and other evidence of their affair. The feud then went quiet.

Young, Carey's former manager, shed some light on the feud during a podcast interview, revealing that it all started when Eminem requested him to introduce him to Carey for his autobiographical film "8 Mile" (2002). Young had a gut feeling that this would end badly.

According to Young, Carey initially declined the meeting, but she reconsidered once she learned it was for a film project. After her music career took a downturn in the 90s, she was eager to explore acting. Young arranged a call between the two. During this call, Eminem disclosed that Carey would play his mother in the film, despite being just four years older than him. "She didn't take that well at all," Young recalls. "Her insecurities grew stronger."

Kim Basinger Steps in as the Motherly Figure

In the end, Kim Basinger played the role of Eminem's mother in "8 Mile." With a 19-year age difference, she was a perfect fit. Eminem's mother, Debbie Nelson, had him at 18 years of age. Carey, meanwhile, faced criticism for her poorly-received film "Glitter," which flopped due to its unfortunate release date of September 11, 2001, as well as its subpar quality.

Despite this, Young's facilitation of the contact between Eminem and Carey sparked the long-lasting feud. Young also dropped another bombshell during the podcast, claiming that Carey was the one pursuing Eminem, not the other way around. According to him, Carey visited Eminem in Detroit, and on their flight from New York to Los Angeles, she made intimate advances towards the rapper.

Contrary to popular belief, Carey reportedly pursued Eminem, even making intimate advances on their flight, according to their former manager Damion "Damizza" Young.

Young also disclosed that Carey's Initial rejection of meeting Eminem eventually gave way when she learned it was for a film project, due to her career struggles in the 90s and her interest in acting.
