The Maryland Cycling Classic Women is set to return on September 6, 2025, with a diverse and exciting lineup of teams from various continents. This UCI 1.1 event promises to be a spectacle of international cycling, showcasing the growing global presence of women's cycling.

African representation will be led by the Benin National Team, making history as the first women's African national team to compete in a major road race on U.S. soil. North American teams include the top-tier EF Education-Oatly, L39ion of Los Angeles, Team USA, Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28, and The Cyclery Racing Team from Canada. European teams CANYON-SRAM zondacrypto and Ceratizit, both currently ranked in the top 15 of the UCI World Rankings, will also be in attendance.

The event will also welcome newcomers Aegis Cycling Foundation, a promising addition to the US cycling scene. Other participating teams include Cynisca Cycling, CCB p/b Levine Law Group, and PatoBike-BMC, all of which are committed to promoting women's cycling.

The Benin National Team's participation underscores the growing prominence of women's cycling, particularly from Africa, in major international races. WorldTour-level Ceratizit Pro Cycling, one of the 15 teams participating, boasts Canadian rider Sarah van Dam, who has recently achieved impressive results in Itzula Women and Tour of Britain Women.

American rider Lauren Stephens, a former US road champion and reigning gravel champion, will represent Aegis Cycling Foundation. Stephens has also won the GC titles at the Tour of the Gila and the Tour de Bloom, two UCI stage races in the US this year. Alia Shafi, a member of Fount Cycling Guild, is another notable participant, having won the GC at Redlands Bicycle Classic, finishing second on GC at Tour de Bloom, and earning the bronze medal at US Pro Road Nationals in the elite women’s time trial.

Each team will consist of six riders, totaling 90 riders on the start line. The race will follow the same roads as the men's UCI 1.Pro contest, promising a challenging and exciting course. Organisers will announce details about the race route for the Maryland Cycling Classic Women 2022 later in July.

The Maryland Cycling Classic Women 2025 is shaping up to be an unmissable event in the women's cycling calendar. With the race set to start at 8:30 a.m. EDT, cycling enthusiasts are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare for an exciting day of racing.
