Confirmed election results in local polls by the election authority
In the recently concluded municipal election in Dormagen, held on September 17, 2025, the SPD emerged as the strongest force in the city council, securing 33.48% of the votes. The CDU followed closely behind with 30.13% of the votes, while the Union for Dormagen took the third spot with 28.17%.
In the mayoral election, Erik Lierenfeld from the SPD won with a significant lead, garnering 48.60% of the votes. The race was competitive, with Anissa Saysay from the CDU coming in second with 28.87% of the votes, and independent candidate Berthold Gericke securing the most votes and being directly elected to the Integration Council with 23.74% of the votes.
Berthold Gericke's strong showing resulted in a unique situation where only eight seats could be allocated for the Integration Council due to an independent candidate receiving more votes than required. The Integration Council was hence elected anew, with Gericke and the Union for Dormagen securing three seats each. The remaining five members were appointed by the city council.
The Greens and The List of Diversity also made their mark in the election, with the Greens securing 9.75% and 16.04% of the votes respectively, resulting in one seat each for both parties in the city council. The List of the Free secured one seat with 9.88% of the votes.
The AfD and The PARTY also participated in the election, with the AfD receiving 13.68% and The PARTY receiving 1.08% of the votes in the city council election. Nils Bergschneider from The PARTY and Torsten Günther from the FDP received 2.90% and 3.54% of the votes in the mayoral election respectively, while the FDP and The Center Party received 4.18% and 3.76% of the votes in the city council election.
The voter turnout for the municipal election was high, with 59.06% of eligible voters casting their ballots. The Integration Council election saw a slightly lower turnout of 17.93%. A runoff election will be held on September 28 between Erik Lierenfeld and Anissa Saysay due to no candidate reaching the required absolute majority in the mayoral election.
The municipal election in Dormagen has concluded, and the city is set to embark on a new chapter with its newly elected officials.
