In the vibrant city of Augsburg, Germany, the Department of Culture, Heritage, and Sports is developing an event framework concept to ensure cohesion, quality, and alignment with cultural and community goals for organising events.

This strategic approach is designed to cover several key aspects in event planning and management, such as:

• Comprehensive Planning Stages: This includes conceptualising the event theme and objectives, stakeholder engagement, and coordination among various city departments and external partners.
• Operational Coordination: Details event logistics such as venue selection, infrastructure, safety and security, accessibility, and compliance with regulations.
• Community Impact and Participation: Encourages community involvement, inclusiveness, and considers social, economic, and environmental impacts.
• Sustainability and Legacy: Plans for the long-term benefits of events, including cultural enrichment, tourism boost, and infrastructural improvements.

With an emphasis on innovative, cross-sectoral cooperation involving academic, cultural, and civic stakeholders, the event framework aims to create holistic event experiences that align with Augsburg's interest in interdisciplinary cultural programs and urban cultures as outlined at the University of Augsburg.

Augsburg's first foray into the world of sports events is the inaugural Augsburger Sports Festival, which will take place on September 21, 2025, at the Erhard-Wunderlich sports hall and the adjacent Wittelsbacher Park. More than 60 sports will be presented, and Augsburger sports clubs are invited to introduce themselves and their sports offerings at the festival.

For those seeking leisure sports opportunities, the sports box in the Hochfeld-Park was available from September 2022 to 2024. The city's first sports box was inaugurated on the Gaswerkgelaende in June 2021.

Lastly, faults in sports and swimming facilities can be reported to the sports and baths department at spba.stadt@unser website.de.
