Complaint falls flat for Pocher, Becker successfully advances.
Boris Becker, the former three-time Wimbledon champion, has won his cease and desist lawsuit against TV comedian Oliver Pocher. The legal dispute, which centred around images from the RTL show "Pocher - dangerously honest", has now come to a close.
The Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe initially ruled in Becker's favour in November 2023. This ruling has now become final, meaning it is no longer subject to appeal. The Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe confirmed the ruling in favour of Becker. Becker's lawyer, Samy Hammad, confirmed the ruling, while Pocher's Hamburg lawyer, Patricia Cronemeyer, considers the rejection of the non-admission complaint to be unacceptable.
The dispute arose when Becker received a three-digit euro amount as a supposed fashion prize in the show without his knowledge. An appeal for donations under the slogan "Make Boris rich again" was launched in the controversial show.
As a result of the ruling, Pocher is no longer allowed to distribute controversial image sequences from the television contribution. He has been ordered to delete relevant film excerpts of the show within his own internet presence.
Pocher had planned to defend himself at the BGH, but the Higher Regional Court did not allow an appeal to the BGH in the case. Cronemeyer is now considering filing a constitutional complaint to overturn this decision.
This marks the end of a legal battle that has been ongoing between the two public figures. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting an individual's rights, especially in the public eye.
