Complaint falls flat for Pocher, Becker successfully advances.
In a ruling made by the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe in November 2023, former tennis star Boris Becker has emerged victorious in his cease-and-desist lawsuit against TV comedian Oliver Pocher. The dispute was related to the RTL show "Pocher - dangerously honest."
The controversy arose when Pocher was awarded a supposed fashion prize in the show, which contained a three-digit euro amount without his knowledge. This led to a dispute over images from the RTL show, with Pocher no longer allowed to distribute controversial image sequences from the TV contribution according to the earlier ruling. He was also required to delete relevant film clips from his own internet presence, if they were published there.
The legal recourse in this matter is now exhausted. After the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) rejected Pocher's complaint against the non-admission of revision on September 18, 2025, Pocher's lawyer announced they would discuss with him whether to file a constitutional complaint against this decision. Pocher's complaint against the non-admission has been rejected by the BGH.
Neither Becker nor Pocher appeared in court. Becker's lawyer, Samy Hammad, confirmed that their legal opinion has been confirmed. The ruling was made by the German Press Agency (dpa) and the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) in Karlsruhe has confirmed that the ruling has become final.
Interestingly, during the controversial show, a fundraising appeal was launched under the slogan "Make Boris rich again." However, this aspect of the case was not part of the legal proceedings.
Cronemeyer, Pocher's lawyer, considers the rejection of the non-admission complaint unacceptable. She is considering filing a constitutional complaint to overturn this decision.
This marks a significant victory for Becker, who won three Wimbledon titles in his illustrious tennis career. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting others' rights, even in the heat of a satirical show.
