"Germany's Next Topmodel": A Cutthroat Battle for the Crown
Six contestants are vying for the title. - Competitors vying for the royal title in this tournament
Get ready, folks! The battle for the crown is heating up as our final eight contestants push themselves to the limits on "Germany's Next Topmodel" (Thursdays, 8:15 PM, ProSieben and available on joyn). With just one step left, they've reached the semi-finals in LA, stacking on the tension like their towering stilettos.
In the Final Tests, they get a glimpse of victory, gracing the cover of "Harper's Bazaar". The lucky cover model will be decided in the live finale next week. Unfortunately, a promising candidate makes a costly mistake while shopping for their final walk - overstocking and overspending their way out of the competition.
"We've Grown Like Crazy"
As the models' four-month journey on the show nears its end, they take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, revisiting their casting videos. They've come leaps and bounds - turning from amateur barbie dolls into confident and versatile models. "I see a completely different Dani on that tape," shares 20-year-old Daniela, who's shed her Barbie persona to transform into a self-assured model. Pierre, 22, sums it up: "We've grown like crazy. It's no surprise we've made it this far."
While taking a bow for their accomplishment, they strike a pose of self-satisfaction, well-deserving of the hard work they've put in.
A Preview of Victory: The "Harper's Bazaar" Cover Shoot
This year's "GNTM" winner will also appear on the cover of "Harper's Bazaar". Traditionally, the cover shoot takes place in the semi-finals. All models indulge in a taste of victory as they strike poses in and around an elegant classic car, one at a time. Zoe and Magdalena, 21, nail the poses alongside Pierre and Jannik, 22, reminding Heidi Klum, 52, of her husband on their wedding day. Kerstin Schneider, editor-in-chief of the magazine, adds: "There's something sparkling in their eyes – the camera loves it."
Canel and Eliob struggle a bit more during the shoot. Canel, 26, from Essen, takes longer than her competitors to find the perfect pose, but the Austrian living in Tokyo, Eliob, faces a different challenge. Having pushed the time limit, he decides to spend the entire $1,500 budget on clothes to appear "expensive." However, he doesn't account for sales tax on clothing in the American pricing system, leaving him without the required funds. A fatal mistake that costs him a shot at stardom.
The Final Fashion Walk: Strut for the Finale
Before the final fashion walk in Los Angeles, Heidi gives each model $1,500 in cash to shop a day and evening outfit within two hours, considering an outfit change for the quick walk. While the female models are efficient with their shopping, Pierre panics and struggles to choose suitable outfits. Eliob, on the other hand, suffers from his shopping mishap, giving him no opportunities to redeem himself in the finale.
Canel and Zoe put on eye-catching performances during the walk. Zoe channels her inner Peggy Bundy, a sitcom star, in a daring leopard look and effortlessly transitions back to a sophisticated lady of society in an evening gown. However, Canel's self-chosen outfits don't impress the judges as much. The final decisions come down to Jannik and Elio among the men, and Zoe and Canel among the women.
It's the end of the road for Canel and Elio, who both show remarkable tenacity during their "GNTM" journey despite their early exits. While Canel is likely to continue her modeling career, Elio leaves the competition with a grateful heart, looking forward to the next chapter in his life. Zoe and Jannik progress to compete for the title of "Germany's Next Topmodel" in the final episode.
