The new season of the national multi-event championship in Yakutia is set to begin with the Yakutia Junior Championships, scheduled for October 22-23 in the republic's capital. This season promises to be an exciting one, with several renowned athletes returning and new stars emerging.

One of the athletes to watch is Boris Sdvizhkov from Amgine, who won the Ust Haya tournament last season despite adverse weather conditions and an increased number of participants. Sdvizhkov has confirmed his participation in the next season.

Another public favourite, Dyulustan Nogovitsyn, may return to the national multi-event championship after suffering an injury during winter training and winning the mas-wrestling tournament during the Sabantuy.

The first qualifying tournament for the Dygyn Games will take place in December in Yakutsk. This year, the rules for athlete selection at the Dygyn Games qualification tournaments include achieving set performance standards, ranking criteria, and adhering to age and nationality requirements specific to each event. However, the format for the qualifying tournaments has not been determined yet.

Several champions from previous Dygyn Games are expected to compete in the upcoming season. Notable among them are Vasily Zakharov, a two-time world, national, and republic champion in mass-wrestling (up to 75 kg), who has announced his intention to participate in the Dygyn Games, and Egor Svynoboyev, a world champion in mass-wrestling (up to 80 kg), who is transitioning to the national decathlon.

Alexei Uvarovsky, who finished sixth at the Dygyn Games 2025 and is preparing for the new season, is likely to focus on improving his strength. Nikolai Matanannov, who qualified for the Dygyn Games last season despite participating in only two events and sustaining an injury in the third, is another athlete to watch.

In the national jumps, Uvarovsky placed third, and in the Yakutian spin, he came second last season. Yakob Dmitriyev, the current leader in the high jump, and Kay Adamov are expected to have a duel in the qualifying competitions. Adamov recently represented the Mountain District and will start the new season for his home district of Churapchinsky.

Adamov's wife, Yevgeniya Adamova from the Ust-Aldan district, is the first woman in Yakutia to achieve the title of Master of Sports in the decathlon and has won the republic championship multiple times. Kay Adamov, a two-time absolute champion of the Games, will compete in the Yakutian high jump in the national decathlon.

Semen Anufriyev, the world mass-wrestling champion 2022, has announced his intention to switch to the decathlon. Anufriyev has experience competing in various festivals and has won the decathlon tournament "Muru Bootuura". Vyacheslav Dyakonov, who won two qualifying tournaments last season but finished a disappointing seventh at the Dygyn Games, will need to show his championship spirit in the upcoming season.

The upcoming national multi-event championship will feature a significant number of new stars and the return of renowned athletes. This season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with many thrilling competitions in store for fans of multi-event sports in Yakutia.
