Competitor Sorg performing competitively with a promising halfway point outcome
The second half of the 2025 Nürburgring Langstrecken-Seriene (NLS) season is set to be an exciting one for Sorg Racing, with the team announcing their plans to return to the Nürburgring with renewed vigour.
In the first half of the season, the Meiser RaceCarRental BMW 330i with starting number 514 finished third twice, showcasing the team's competitive prowess. Now, Sorg Racing is aiming to build on this success and compete at the Nürburgring, particularly during the NLS 6th race weekend. Their focus is on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, with Patrik Grütter driving car #901 for Sorg Rennsport, targeting consistent performance in the Cup2 class.
Sorg Racing's ambitions extend beyond the 6th race weekend. The team aims to be as successful in the upcoming six-hour race and the following NLS races as they were in the first half of the season. This includes a strong return to the track, as they prepare to tackle racing challenges head-on.
The team's Schmersal Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport (Generation 982) has already proven its mettle, winning all four NLS races it entered in the CUP3 class. Sorg Racing fields up to four GT4 Caymans at each NLS race weekend, and it's clear that they are committed to maintaining their competitive edge.
In the same race, the Porsche Cayman with starting number 418 entered by Sorg Racing finished second in the V6 class, further demonstrating the team's versatility. Meanwhile, the team's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Generation 992), driven by Oleksii Kikireshko, Patrik Grüter, and Fabio Grosse, took third overall in its debut and second place in the second 24h Qualifier race.
Daniel Sorg, team principal of Sorg Racing, emphasizes the professionalism and motivation of the team. He stated that the team aims to continue with victories in the CUP 3 class with their Schmersal Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and hopes for a class win on the podium for the VT2 rear-drivers as soon as possible.
However, it's not just about the podium finishes for Sorg Racing. Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton, driving the Schmersal Porsche, currently rank as the third-best in the NLS standings. Eichenberg leads the Gentleman Trophy, while Haughton tops the Junior Trophy.
Meanwhile, Moran Gott, driving his self-built BMW 325i, dominated the Challenge within the NLS, achieving four class wins with starting number 107 in the first half of the season. Unfortunately, Sorg Rennsport will no longer support the BMW 325i in the rest of the season.
Sorg Rennsport's self-developed BMW 128i made its season debut in the VT2-FWD class at the 24h qualifiers, finishing third. Meanwhile, the cn2 racing BMW 330i, driven by Piet-Jan Ooms, Calvin de Groot, and Marius Rauer, has won a VT2-RWD class race and finished second twice.
Tommy Grauberg and Joshua Hislop, driving mid-engine racer with starting number 949, have won the AM class of the CUP3 class multiple times and currently lead this category overall.
Sorg Racing started the 2025 NLS season in the CUP2 class with a podium finish. With their sights set on the second half of the season, it's clear that Sorg Racing is ready to continue their competitive streak and aim for even more podium finishes in the upcoming races.
