Pitcher Report| June 2nd

Yak City

Aaron Civale of the Cleveland Guardians kicks things off for this game. Despite a rocky start this season, limiting him to just 3 games and 12 total innings, he's managed to hold his ground in his last two starts since returning from injury. Civale has given up only 1 HR in 9 innings of work and 7 total hits during this time.

The Los Angeles Angels come visiting today, squaring off against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Guardians' starter Tyler Anderson has been impressive so far this season, boasting a 3.39 ERA, but he's struggled a bit on the road, notching a 4.78 ERA away from Anaheim and surrendering just over 2 HR/9. Over his career, Anderson has struggled against lefties like the Red Sox's superstar Rafael Devers.

Weather Man, Weather Man

Today's games are blessed with excellent weather conditions across the nation. The Dodgers are back at home, welcoming the Mets to Dodger Stadium, where wind blows out and skies are clear, making for ideal homerun conditions. Just last week, the two teams faced off in New York, with the Mets taking two out of the three games played.

In the Midwest, the White Sox welcome the Tigers, and Guaranteed Rate Field boasts the smallest outfield in all of MLB. Jack Flaherty gets the start for the Tigers, and he's demonstrated remarkable success against the White Sox in his last three games, with 7+ strikeouts in all of them. The White Sox currently rank 9th in strikeouts against righties, presenting an intriguing matchup for Flaherty.

Lastly, games in Boston and Cincinnati feature mild winds blowing out of the stadium and mild air pressure, both of which contribute to better ball flight, potentially leading to more homeruns.

Our Best Bets on the Diamond for Sunday, June 2nd

Shohei Ohtani o1.5 Total Bases (-135 via BetOnline)

For the third time, we're backing baseball's superhuman player, Shohei Ohtani. He boasts a .305 batting average at Dodger Stadium, and with 22 homers already this season, there's no sign of slowing down. Last night, Ohtani went 0-4 against the Yankees, but today he faces a new challenge: the New York Mets' Paul Blackburn, who last started a game in August 2023. Despite this, the Dodgers lineup is stacked and able to take advantage of even a rusty starting pitcher. Ohtani has had 9 at-bats against Blackburn throughout his career, with a .444 batting average and one home run. With his impressive track record against right-handed pitchers, expect another solid day from the league MVP-favorite.

Bonus: Shohei Ohtani 2+ Home Run (+1100)

Jack Flaherty o6.5 Ks (+106 via BetOnline)

AGainst the Chicago White Sox, Jack Flaherty has excelled, with over 6.5 strikeouts in six out of his 11 starts this year. Given the White Sox's history with Flaherty and their current ranking at 9th in strikeouts allowed to righties, Flaherty appears to be a strong play for a fourth victory of the season.
