- Senegal leads Group D with 4 points after a win and a draw.
- Sudan and Congo Brazzaville each have 2 points.
- Nigeria is trailing, having lost matches so far.
The match between Congo Brazzaville and Nigeria, scheduled for their last group match, will be crucial in determining who advances to the last eight of the tournament.
Congo Brazzaville head coach Barthelemy Ngatsono believes they can still qualify for the quarterfinals. However, they need to win their last group match against Nigeria and hope Sudan loses to the defending champions.
The Congo Brazzaville team has not yet won a match in the group stage, with one draw against Sudan and one draw against Senegal. Dechan Moussavou scored the first goal for Congo Brazzaville in the 19th minute against Senegal, but they were unable to hold on to the lead, eventually drawing 1-1.
Despite the heavy defeat, Nigerian head coach Eric Chelle remains optimistic about their chances, promising their fans something to smile about in their next match. He warned their next opponents that they'll be in for a rude shock after their heavy 4-0 loss to Sudan.
Ngatsono acknowledged the threats posed by Nigeria but expressed that they are prepared for the match. He stated that they will take their last match against Nigeria with the seriousness it deserves.
The matches in group D are being played at Amaan International Stadium in Zanzibar City. The outcome of the match between Sudan, Senegal, and Congo Brazzaville will determine who advances to the last eight of the tournament.
As the race for the quarterfinals heats up, both teams will be fighting with all they've got to secure their place in the next round. The match between Congo Brazzaville and Nigeria promises to be an exciting one, with both teams eager to secure a much-needed win.
