"Competition Initiated: Win Prizes from Yakutia Newspaper"
On Friendship Square in Yakutsk, the 78th lightweight athletics relay - aptly renamed the 'Victory Relay' - commenced on a bright May 8th. The event, a nod to our heroic ancestors who fought tirelessly for our nation, was evident as the 1st Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Gavriil Mokhnachevskii, highlighted. He expressed his hopes for everyone to put their best foot forward in the lovely weather and may the victorious prevail.
Addressing the participants, Viktor Kolesov, General Director of Sakhamedia, remarked: "This year, we label the relay 'Victory Relay'. It originated back in 1944 when your predecessors demonstrated their bravery and readiness to defend our Motherland. Today, around 400 individuals partake - schoolchildren, university students, and organization collectives."
An intriguing twist to this year's competition is the prize; the winning team will receive an 80,000-ruble certificate from Sakhamedia media holding instead of the prevalent 10,000. This certificate allows publishing in all their outlets - "Yakutia" and "Saha sire" newspapers, Yakutia State Television and Radio Company (Yakutia-24), and Media Center - and avails Media Center services until the year's end. The runners-up will receive 50,000 and 30,000 rubles, respectively.
Eduard Starostin, Deputy Head of the Physical Culture and Sports Department of the "City of Yakutsk" municipal district, encouraged everyone to be thrilled and victorious. The Chief Editor of the "Yakutia" newspaper, Matrena Kondrateva, expressed her delight at witnessing such enthusiastic participants at the starting line:
- By carrying on the legacy of your brethren, fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers, you will pen your own chapter in the annals of our relay. Zoya Bezvikonnaya, a regular participant, has participated 25 times and bagged numerous victories. The most illustrious participant was Sардана Трофимова, the relay's ambassador, who started as a schoolgirl. Amid you, there are undoubtedly future champions and Olympians who will bring glory to the republic. Get set, and may the most unified and strongest team win!
Sardana Trofimova echoed, "I'll cheer for you, so you'll give your all!"
