Competition has progressed, and it's now the German team's turn to advance into the latest round.

Eintracht Frankfurt has strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Michael Zetterer from Werder Bremen. The 30-year-old goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a four-year contract until June 30, 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be around €5 million with potential add-ons up to €800,000, totalling approximately €6 million.

Zetterer, who was Werder Bremen's No.1 for the past two Bundesliga seasons, has made 80 competitive appearances for the club, including 63 in the Bundesliga. He has also gained experience in the Eredivisie and Austria's second tier.

Sporting director Markus Krösche praised Zetterer, stating that he is a strong and above-average goalkeeper whose ambitions and mentality fit well with the club. Krösche also emphasised the importance of having a strong and balanced goalkeeper team as they prepare for the new season, with Zetterer being a crucial piece of the puzzle.

The transfer was completed quickly, with Werder Bremen releasing Zetterer for talks once the deal was imminent. At Frankfurt, Zetterer replaces Kevin Trapp, who left for Paris FC, and is expected to provide competition while serving as a placeholder for the club’s young future goalkeeper Kauã Santos.

Zetterer's arrival comes at an opportune time, as Eintracht Frankfurt's Bundesliga season started with a match against Zetterer's former club Werder Bremen shortly after his arrival.

During his time at Werder Bremen, Zetterer was loaned out to Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle. However, upon his return, he became the regular goalkeeper. In those 65 games, Zetterer kept 18 clean sheets.

With Zetterer's signing, Eintracht Frankfurt is looking to build a formidable team for the upcoming season, and Zetterer's experience and skills will undoubtedly contribute to their efforts.
