Huge Challenge Ahead: Pokal and HSV Face Off - Competition for the Cup: HSV confronted in Pirmasens

In the upcoming DFB-Pokal match, FK Pirmasens, an Oberliga side, will take on Bundesliga newcomers Hamburger SV. The game, scheduled for Saturday at 13:00 CET, will be broadcast on Sky and is expected to attract a massive crowd to the Sportpark Husterhohe in Pirmasens.

Despite the limited capacity of the stadium, which usually attracts around 700 fans, the match against Hamburger SV has been a significant revenue source for FK Pirmasens, described as "like a major sponsor." The DFB-Pokal clash is expected to generate around 100,000 euros for the club, a substantial amount compared to their usual income from league games or friendlies.

The match's significance extends beyond the financial aspect. For FK Pirmasens, it represents a major challenge, with club chairman Jürgen Kölsch considering them the "clear underdog." The difference in league status between the two teams makes the match a major upset, with FK Pirmasens previously causing a significant upset in 2006 when they eliminated Werder Bremen 4:2 on penalties as a Regionalligist.

To accommodate the larger-than-usual crowd and media presence, 90 personnel from police, fire department, and security are also involved in the match. The Stadion auf der Husterhöhe has been sold out for weeks with 10,000 spectators, a significant increase from the usual 700.

The youth teams of FK Pirmasens will also be participating in the match, adding to the excitement and anticipation. The game between FK Pirmasens and Hamburger SV is set to be a thrilling encounter, with the former aiming to repeat their 2006 upset against Werder Bremen.

In the 2006 match against Werder Bremen, Miguel Carvalho scored the decisive penalty, a moment that remains etched in the club's history. As they prepare to face Hamburger SV, FK Pirmasens will undoubtedly draw inspiration from their past successes and strive to create more memorable moments.
