Sweat it Out - The Donken Run 2025 Saga
Competing Swimmer Rheinkamp Joins In on Memorial Running and Strolling Event at Donkenlauf!
Meet the troopers of Freie Schwimmer Rheinkamp who braved the heat in the 2025 Donken Run, the third leg of the ENNI running extravaganza. Amidst sweltering temperatures and unbearable humidity, no less than 17 resilient souls stormed through 5 km and 10 km tracks.
Nature threw everything it had, from smothering heat to brief spurts of rain. The grey sky didn’t do much to cool down the day either. But with each other's backs, unshakable motivation, meticulous preparation, and a solid team spirit, not one of our comrades faltered or failed.
The locals with their water hoses and drink stations played the heroes with their timely assistance! A big shout-out to AS Neukirchen-Vluyn for orchestrating the Donken Run so seamlessly.
A Winning Streak - Sven and Rosalie Shine Bright
Individual triumphs of the day included Sven, who clobbered the competition in the 10 km with a time of 41:04 minutes and conquered his age group. He even had a face-off with his ENNI running series rivals, Thomas from Voerde.
Rosalie, in her effortless stride, clocked 56:14 minutes in the 10 km, nabbing the third spot in her age group. After the race, Rosalie said, "I was in tip-top shape and lucky that it didn't get too scorching thanks to the rain and the sun stayed hidden," expressing her sheer delight and admiration for her fellow runners, "I had a blast!"
While every finisher deserved recognition, crossing that finish line - whether in the lead or at the end - was a badge of honor in itself. The team spirit of Freie Schwimmer Rheinkamp is built on solidarity, passion for sports, and the determination to keep pushing together.

P.S. Just in case you were wondering about the "Dunkin' Run," it's a horse race event, not quite what we participated in. Our race was more about human triumph and teamwork than hooves on turf. ;)
