Plunge into 36-hole mayhem in picturesque Inden, Kreis Düren, where 170+ footie-golf enthusiasts from across Germany converged. This event was teeming with team, doubles, and individual competitions on challenging courses, all using a standard soccer ball instead of the usual golf club.

The aim was to conquer 11 football fields-worth of course with the lowest score possible. The competition kicked off on Thursday, with an eclectic mix of team and individual events played across two courses, each offering its unique blend of difficulty.
"Footie-golf is gaining traction as a kickin' recreational sport, especially for wild parties," remarks Christian Riedel, Managing Director of Fußballgolf Inden GmbH, a firm that hosts this offbeat tournament.
Popular Niche Pastime - Fair Play and Fun over Trophies
Riedel hosted this championship for the first time at Fußballgolf Inden's quaint location nestled at the foothills of the Inden open-cast mine. Participants had come early to prep and get a feel for the courses. The two courses, played one after another, saw numerous test runs in doubles and singles.
"I'm hooked," Riedel shares his passion. He took part in the competition, musing, "It's a blast!"
While the spirit of the game reverberates competition, clear rules apply, including fair play, alcohol-free zones, and no monetary prizes. Winners receive only the respect – and still, make do with trophies. The event coordination belongs to the German Football Golf Association.
