In the heart of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, German swimmer Angelina Koehler made a splash with her impressive performance in the 50-meter butterfly final. Despite finishing fourth, Koehler set a new German record time of 25.50 seconds, demonstrating her prowess in the sprint butterfly discipline[1][2].

Koehler, who was the World champion in butterfly events last year, showcased her competitive spirit across various distances. She swam times under 57 seconds in the 100-meter butterfly final and relay events, further cementing her status as a top German and world-class butterfly sprinter[5].

However, the Championships were not without its challenges for Koehler. She faced a tumultuous week, including a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly as the defending champion and shedding tears[4]. Reflecting on her experience, Koehler described the week as an "emotional rollercoaster" and "incredibly hard".

Meanwhile, in a separate event, VfB Stuttgart secured a victory in a test match against Toulouse. Newcomer Nick Woltemade made his first appearance for the team in this match[6].

In other swimming news, the German 4x100 meter freestyle mixed relay team, consisting of Josha Salchow, Rafael Miroslaw, Nina Holt, and Nina Jazy, finished eighth at the Championships. Lise Seidel also competed in the 200-meter backstroke final, her biggest career race, where she finished eighth[7].

Unfortunately, Isabel Gose was unable to compete for a medal in her race, the 800 meters freestyle. The Henkersfest, a traditional festival in the old town of Stuttgart, is taking place for the first time due to safety reasons, but is currently facing other unspecified issues[8].

This year's World Championship swimming meet witnessed a thrilling 50-meter butterfly final, with American Katie Ledecky taking the victory, followed by Australian Lani Pallister and Canadian Summer McIntosh in second and third respectively[9].

Koehler's competitive spirit extended beyond the 50-meter butterfly, as she also participated in the 100-meter butterfly final and relay events [5]. In a different sports event, VfB Stuttgart's newcomer Nick Woltemade made his debut in a test match against Toulouse [6].
