A Change of Pace for Bayern and Nagelsmann

Vincent Kompany, Bayern's manager, has no intention of meddling in Julian Nagelsmann's selection of a new captain for the German football national team. When questioned about Joshua Kimmich, a strong contender for the role following Ilkay Gündogan's exit, Kompany was categorical: "Kimmich is a leader, without question, for us and Bayern."

"His contributions to me so far have been invaluable and exactly what I needed. The national team's decision-making process is their internal affair. It's a procedure that should unfold only within the DFB setting. My opinion on this matter is not germane," Kompany asserted. The DFB squad will convene in Herzogenaurach post their home EM, for Nations League games against Hungary and the Netherlands. It's speculated that Nagelsmann will unveil the new captain during this meeting.

"A Home Game at Last"

Kompany is anxiously awaiting his first home game as Bayern coach during the initial break of the season. "It's been an agonizing wait, but finally, there's a game in the Allianz Arena," said the 38-year-old Belgian, alluding to the Sunday (5:30 PM/DAZN) clash against SC Freiburg's league leaders. "Our objective is to bring joy to the fans." The ultimate goal is victory.

Kompany remained coy about potential alterations to the starting lineup, particularly in defense, following the unstable performance in their 3:2 season opener in Wolfsburg. It's plausible that the new Portuguese recruit, João Palhinha, will be moved into midfield.

Olise Exudes Confidence

Kompany expressed optimism about the other top newcomer, Michael Olise, following their initial weeks. The 22-year-old, who captured the silver medal with France at the Olympics in Paris and joined the Munich team late, is "a young man bursting with confidence." His adaptation is going smoothly. "There's hope he'll exhibit his full potential in the coming weeks," Kompany said.

Kompany's focus remains on Bayern's internal matters, as he stated, "The Commission shall adopt implementing acts laying down the rules for the application of this Regulation, but for the selection of the German national team captain, that's a decision for their personnel."

As the DFB squad prepares to gather for the Nations League games, Kompany is eager for his first home game as Bayern coach, expressing, "It's a game in the Allianz Arena, something I've been waiting for. Our aim is to bring joy to the fans and secure the victory."
