Community gathers to pay respects at funeral for Saudi student tragically murdered by stabbing in the United Kingdom

In a tragic turn of events, a 21-year-old Saudi student, Mohammed bin Yusuf Al Qassim, lost his life in a fatal stabbing incident in the United Kingdom. Thousands mourned his death, with funeral prayers held at the Grand Mosque and burial at Al Shuhada Cemetery in Saudi Arabia.

The main suspect charged with the murder is Chaz Corrigan, a Cambridge man. Corrigan has been formally charged with murder and possession of a bladed weapon in a public place. He pleaded not guilty at Cambridge Crown Court, claiming self-defense.

Prosecutors believe the weapon used in Al Qassim's murder is typically linked to homicides, suggesting the assailant acted with clear intent to kill. The current status of the case is that the next hearing is scheduled for September 8, 2025.

Mohammed bin Yusuf Al Qassim was remembered as a devout memorizer of the Qur'an and a dedicated volunteer serving pilgrims in Mecca. Friends and acquaintances recalled his kindness and commitment to service on social media, where his death drew an outpouring of condolences and tributes.

The Saudi Embassy in London is closely following the case and coordinating with local authorities. The family of Mohammed bin Yusuf Al Qassim has vowed to pursue legal action "until the perpetrator is held fully accountable." The embassy has expressed its support and commitment to the family during this difficult time.

The family also expressed gratitude for the support received from the community, both in the UK and in Saudi Arabia. They remain hopeful for justice and closure in the upcoming hearings.
