Communist Party of Vietnam's Secretary planned to attend military parade ceremony.
May 5-7, Vietnam's Communist Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong Heads to Kazakhstan
Get ready for some high-level talks, y'all! According to Akorda, the big cheese himself, Nguyen Phu Trong, is jetting off to Kazakhstan for a state visit. This badass trip is happening at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The agenda? Discussing the future of Kazakh-Vietnamese trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian cooperation. And on the 7th, Nguyen Phu Trong will take part in a military parade in Nur-Sultan to honor the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
Now, let's take a moment and appreciate that last year, the former Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, General To Lam, became the boss. He scored the coveted role after getting the thumbs-up from the National Assembly of Vietnam.
But wait, there's more! In October, they named a new prez. His name's General Vo Van Thuong, a 67-year-old tough cookie.
Curious about the man behind the badge? According to RIA Novosti, General-Colonel To Lam has been slaving away in the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Ministry of Interior (MOI) his whole career.
From 1993 to 2010, he was the boss of MPS departments, managing political protection and counterintelligence units. Then, in 2010, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security and, in 2016, become Minister and was elected to the Politburo of the CPV.
