Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Mikolów District Reinforce Coalition for Coexistence and Collaboration
Addressing the ongoing challenges in the world, District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke stressed the importance of cooperative partnerships like the one between Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Mikolów. He made these remarks during the welcome speech at a recent gathering that also witnessed the enduring ties between the two regions being celebrated.
Jarosław Sworzen, Deputy District Administrator of Mikolów, recounted their initial administrative interactions and expressed his commitment to continuing the collaboration. The mutual benefits derived from this joint effort were acknowledged by all parties involved. Grzegorz Conrad, Chairman of the Mikolów District Council, offered a spray paint drawing of the Neuss Quirinus Monument as a token of appreciation for Petrauschke's tireless advocacy for the alliance.
Angela Stein-Ulrich, Chairperson of the Partnerschaftskomitee Europäische Nachbarn, characterized the successful district partnership as a European peace project. Grażyna Nazar, a board member of the Mikolów District, extended congratulations on Rhein-Kreis Neuss' 50th anniversary and revealed a bust of Polish artist Andrzej Dromert, who started his career in Mikolów, as well as a renowned rebel and writer.
During the event, the focus shifted towards the project series connecting the two districts in areas such as youth, education, art, and sports, along with economic contacts. Plans for a business conference in Rhein-Kreis Neuss involving companies from both districts were highlighted, with a list of interested small and medium-sized enterprises from Mikolów being compiled.
To further strengthen the bond, the terms of a donation agreement, which included a Volkswagen Kombi vehicle, were signed by Petrauschke and Sworzen. Agnieszka Kuchna, director of the children's home in Mikolów, gratefully accepted the vehicle. Transport arrangements were handled by a Polish logistics company.
The visit was concluded with a harbor tour in Neuss, alongside visits to Zons medieval customs fortress and Kaarst's Lammertzhof. The Rhein-Kreis Neuss Partnerschaftskomitee received an invitation for a return visit to Mikolów the following year, tentatively scheduled for late April to mark the World Day of Twin Cities.
