German politics continue to unfold as promised polls shed light on the public's opinions.

The AfD remains a formidable force, holding steady at 23 percent, while the Green Party and The Left garner 12 percent and 11 percent respectively. The SPD, BSW, and FDP fail to cross the five-percent hurdle, trailing behind with three percent each.

In the latest assessment of politician popularity and performance, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) maintains his leading position with an average of 2.3 on a scale of -5 to +5. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil follows suit with 0.8, while newcomers Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) and Economics Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) earn 0.7 and 0.0 respectively. Chancellor Friedrich Merz and CSU leader Markus Söder both receive 0.0, while AfD leader Alice Weidel trails behind with -2.5.

Tax Relief for Businesses

The public remains skeptical about the government's plans to introduce significant tax relief for businesses. Only 35 percent of respondents believe this would significantly boost the economy, with 51 percent anticipating meager benefits and 9 percent expecting no positive effects at all. Supporters of the CDU/CSU and FDP display a sense of optimism, while SPD supporters are divided on the matter.

Military Support for Ukraine

A substantial 40 percent of respondents show support for European states providing stronger military support for Ukraine, whereas 30 percent would prefer the current level of aid. Interestingly, 26 percent believe Ukraine should receive less military aid. It is noteworthy that this figure is contingent on the data available, as a specific June 2023 Politbarometer may yield different results [1].

Weapons Deliveries to Israel

Public sentiment regarding weapons deliveries to Israel, based on the latest data, leans towards intensifying political pressure on Israel. 77 percent of respondents advocate for a temporary suspension of weapons deliveries due to the Israeli army's actions and the high civilian casualty count in the Gaza Strip. In contrast, only 15 percent support continued weapons deliveries [1].
