Fine paid results in dismissal of ex-Pauli player's legal action - Commission Neglected Responsibilities as Per Article 85 (1) of Treaty, According to Court of First Instance

Controversy surrounds the recent outcome of legal proceedings against former footballer Benedikt Pliquett. The Hamburg-Altona local court, as reported by a spokesperson, has provisionally dismissed charges against Pliquett related to attempted bodily harm and coercion, after a payment of a 1,500 euro fine was made.

The former goalkeeper of FC St. Pauli found himself in hot water for allegedly assaulting his then-spouse and her companion in September 2023. The 40-year-old Pliquett contested the criminal charges, leading to a trial.

The claim of attempted bodily harm against Pliquett was recanted by the man involved, citing a lack of proof that the defendant had committed any harmful actions. Attempted bodily harm charges against Pliquett were subsequently dropped, with the man explaining that he felt a breeze on the back of his head but didn't witness the defendant's actions.

Dismissal of Proceedings on Payment of Fine

Pliquett's ex-wife opted not to testify. Whilst coercion by Pliquett was observed by the prosecution, it did not necessarily lead to a conviction. With the agreement of all parties involved, the proceedings were dismissed on payment of a fine. Notably, this dismissal is provisional, and the proceedings will be finalized once the fine is paid in full.

Pliquett spent nearly a decade (2004-2013) playing for FC St. Pauli in the Bundesliga and the second division. During his tenure, he participated in numerous notable games for the Hamburg team.
