The Deutsche Post is gearing up to deliver voting notifications to eligible voters across North Rhine-Westphalia, including in Hünxe and Voerde, starting from August 5 and August 9, respectively. These notifications are a crucial part of the mail-in voting (Briefwahl) process in Germany.

In Dinslaken, the local election office (Wahlamt) will manage the mail-in voting process, following North Rhine-Westphalia state election laws. Interested voters should check the Dinslaken city website or contact the election office to request mail-in ballots starting from August 9, following any instructions or deadlines provided.

The mail-in voting process in Germany generally involves an application, receiving the ballot, voting, returning the ballot, and a deadline for submission. Voters who wish to vote by mail request a postal voting package (Wahlbrief) from their local municipality or election office. After application, the election office sends the mail-in ballot package to the voter's registered address.

In Voerde and Hünxe, the voting notifications will pass through reading and video coding machines in the Duisburg sorting center before being delivered. The completed ballot must be sealed in the provided envelopes and returned to the election office by mail or dropped off at designated locations before the deadline, which is 6 p.m. on September 14, 2025, for these regions.

It is important to note that the voting envelope does not need to be stamped when sent by post within Germany. Mail-in votes that are placed in the mailbox or handed in at an office before the last collection on Thursday, September 11, 2025, will reach the election offices in time.

Britta Töllner, spokesperson for the DHL Group, emphasizes the importance of precise preparation to ensure all shipments reach their destination reliably. The Deutsche Post, which is responsible for delivering the voting notifications, appeals to voters to request their mail-in voting materials early or to send their ballots immediately after receiving them.

The municipal election, Integration Council election, and Ruhr Parliament election will take place in North Rhine-Westphalia on September 14, 2025. For more information about the mail-in voting process, visit www.deutschepost.de/briefwahl.
