Heads Roll at TuS 08 Emmerich-Huethum!
Kickin' it in Emmerich, but a shook-up sports club scene this year!
The annual meeting of the TuS 08 Emmerich-Huethum sports club left some jaws dropped, as they were unable to find a suitable successor for the outgoing 1st chairman, Tim Koester. Koester, who served on the board for an impressive 24 years and held the helm since 2009, decided not to run for re-election.
Stepping into the shoes of the departing Frank Steinvoort as treasurer is Steve Manoch. Steinvoort, who had been treasurer since 2011 and shared a rosy financial outlook for the club, is no longer part of the team. Rolf Krumscheid reclaimed his role as 2nd chairman, and Agnes Howey remains the managing director.
For now, the club is operating under an interim arrangement, as they hope to find a new chairman or chairwoman to lead TuS 08 in accordance with the statutes within the next six months.
Number of members has taken a slight hit compared to previous years, facing challenges in finding enough instructors. Only a handful of volunteers are eager to take on these roles, which has left some vacancies.
In more cheery news, the karate and boule departments hosted exciting tournaments, and the latter is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! Many locals caught a glimpse of the action on WDR with Ludger Kazmierczak. The summer tent camp on the club premises proved to be a hit among the little ones.
A big shout out to the departing board members, instructors, Andreas Sessing for his top-notch care of the facilities, and Bernhard Fluhr for managing the myriad club tasks. Here's lookin' at you, 08!
Wondering who's in charge now? Check out the club's official website, local news outlets, or better yet, give 'em a ring to stay in the loop!
Football remains a core part of TuS 08 Emmerich-Huethum, despite the tumultuous sports club scene this year. Despite the departure of outgoing 1st chairman, Tim Koester, who served for an impressive 24 years and held the position since 2009, the club has not given up on their love for the sport.
