The 20th edition of the GEFMA Biker Tour took participants on an exciting journey through the picturesque landscapes of Franconia, Germany, reminiscent of the first tour in 2006 with minor detours due to motorcycle restrictions and construction sites. The route, similar to the initial tour de france of cycling, included notable stops such as Burg Rabenstein, the Devil's Cave Pottenstein, and the market town of Gößweinstein.

Organised by Wolfgang Inderwies, head of the GEFMA working group "Tendering and Awarding", the tour presented a challenge for the 14 participants. They had to guess the next stage destination based on professional questions, adding an element of mystery to the adventure.

The cultural tour began on the second weekend of September, with the group setting off towards Franconian Switzerland. Along the way, they visited the Vierzehnheiligen pilgrimage site, where they participated in a vehicle blessing. Interestingly, 13 BMW Dixi vintage cars also sought divine assistance at the same site.

The cultural tour continued to the minor basilica planned by Balthasar Neumann, the pilgrimage church of the Holy Trinity in Gößweinstein, and culminated in the episcopal city of Bamberg, known as the 'Franconian Rome'. The tour ended on a high note with a hearty snack at the Metzgerbräu Uetzing.

The 20th GEFMA Biker Tour covered over 230 km and nearly 2,900 meters in altitude, a testament to the group's endurance and spirit of adventure. The weather was kind throughout the tour, making for a pleasant journey.

Looking ahead, the 21st gefma Biker Tour will take place in the Allgäu on the second weekend in September 2026 (11th to 13th September 2026). Martin Gräber and Wolfgang Inderwies will be in charge of the organization. Interested parties can contact Wolfgang Inderwies at [email protected].

It's worth noting that Ulrich Glauche, the founder of the GEFMA Biker Tour, joined the concluding dinner of the 20th GEFMA Biker Tour. The tour has come a long way since its inception in 2006, when Ulrich Glauche, the head of GEFMA's guideline system, organized the first GEFMA Biker Training Ride with eight motorcyclists.

The tour also included a visit to 'Sanspareil', a common place name in Franconia and the name of a rock garden from the 18th century. The GEFMA Biker Training Ride in 2006 had an element of a scavenger hunt that required good industry knowledge.

The 20th GEFMA Biker Tour was a memorable event, filled with adventure, camaraderie, and a touch of history. As we look forward to the next tour, we can't help but reminisce about the incredible journey that was the 20th GEFMA Biker Tour.
